Well, it been three days. since the last time we visited I have rode my bike with Erin on Thursday for a 105 minutes at very moderate ( slow) pace. It was 530 am when we started. Of course as always Iam trying to find my gift I noticed right off how beautiful the moon was, it was a finger nail shaped moon and just perfect. No sun just night. The most beautiful things are found at night. If you look.
Then Jen Grren came to visit. She has moved to Chicago and is here for a visit. I am so happy and glad she is here. We ran on friday and than swam. It was really good I was a bit of a procrastinator getting in the pool but after I bit the bullet, succeeded and went a mile. I am glad that was over. We had a party for Erins birthday at a pizza place and it was way fun, getting all the girls back together. It has been too long and the boys seem to add a different twist to the evening. I love it when it is just the girls. Sorry guys.
We went for a bike ride today out to Usuary pass. Oh my what a ride. It was perfect, the weather was beautiful; and the rolling hills and all the scenery was just great. After the ride we did a bit of a brick.( run) Just went 15 minutes but it was great. Jen and I and Erin had a great fun day. Miss Erin is racing tomorrow the Mcdownel Mt Duathlon as well as Merilee and Shannon, I am giving back to the sport and volunteering for the first time there. It is the first year I have not done it.. I would like to be racing but did not get signed up in time. It closed so quick this year. But I will be there for all my friends to encourage and suport them.
This is just the beginning of my training season and I am looking forward to my first race. till we meet again.

Another Day
Well I have been very unreliable about bloging. This is harder than I thought. Training is easy. But this is what I want to do, I want to let you experience what I am. So let me back track a bit to Saturday. Valentines Day Feb 14. I met Erin at 8 am and we did the dreaded Beeline Highway. Most of you don't know about the Beeline Highway. This is a road that the Arizona Ironman does loopes on, 3 to be exact. I was on this highway every weekend for 6 month before the race. Just to get to know every bump and pot hole on it. Which I am very sure I learned. So when we pulled up to the Beeline I just about lost it. Never wanting to see it again let alone ride it. But off we went. It was a bautiful day. The sun had just risen and the clouds were puffy cotten balls and the sky was just a blue as blue can be. Off in the distance you could see the Salt River meandering through the desert. One of the things I look for on each and every training day are the gifts that God gives me. It is usually a beautiful sunrise or a full moon on our morning run. God always give us a very special give each and every time we go out. The ride was very uneventful until we hit mile 52 about 3 hours into the ride. I fell apart. I don't think I had enough to eat and I started to fall apart. Food is a huge necessity and you must eat in order to keep going. I thought seeing that we only had about 5 miles to go I could make it to the end of the Beeline. I was wrong. When I finally did eat it was too late and we were just about done. No time for it to get into my system. When we got back to the car I was done. I had a 10 minute brick ( a run after the bike) and could not go. We went to in and out burger and filled up. I felt so much better.
Welcome to My Ironman Journey
Hi, today is Friday the 13th. Everyone always thinks this is a bad day, but it is a good day for me. So what better day to start something new. I know there are some sort of rules that need to be followed in this process. I think one is shorter is better. First off I want to thank Bob Fabey for giving me this opportunity and giving me a push start on both of these venues. First he has designed my web page and then encouraged me to start blogging for everyone to follow my Journey. Thank you Bob. I would have never done this with out you! So here is the gist of my blogsite here. I am going to take you daily with me training, good days and bad, all the way to the World Championships in Kona, Hawaii on November 10,2009. I qualified in my last Ironmanin November 08'. During our time together I will try to give you a glimpse of what it takes for a 55 year old woman to get to the "BIG DANCE". Hopefully you will enjoy my journey as much as I will enjoy, you going along with me. Some days will be much more interesting than others. Some days will be longer than others and then there will be MY REST DAYS. Those are my favorite. And I am sure you will love them too. So lets get started. Today I ran with my friend Erin we ran one hour and covered 6.5 miles. I was breathing very hard as I am not a very good runner, so today was easy for Erin and hard for me... its all relative. Then we met our friend, Merilee at lifetime to swim. The best thing to have are great training buddies and family who love and support you. Which I must tell you I have. I am blessed in so many ways. So we swam one mile, which takes about 1/2 hour. We ended our training day in the Jacuzzi with laughs all around. L.
